21st Birthday Trip to Rome

Hey guys,

Imagine my SURPRISE when my mum tells me she's going to whisk me off to Rome for me 21st birthday (which was/is sept 16th) . Legit the best birthday surprise she's ever given me I wonder how she's going to top it.

Anyway  we went for a long weekend in the October week holiday just gone as my mums a teacher and that was the closest time to my birthday she could book for. We ended up staying 10 mins from the Colosseum I would recommend finding a hotel near there if your thinking of going to Rome, as everything is pretty much in working distance and there's loads of historical sites in that area. Also I would advise getting a ticket for a tour bus as you'll see much more than you would without one and you can jump on and off which will save on travel money as the tickets are valid for 24hrs.
I really would recommend everyone to go to Rome there's so much culture and history there's literally something on every corner I was buzzing there was just so much to take in. I definitely  want to visit there again as there are still many places I'd like to visit there plus, there's such a lovely atmosphere in Rome and they're friendly.

The biggest thing I found disappointing was the fact that I actually managed to end up at a place that sold me the most awful pizza on a plastic plate an charged me 3 euros for a can of fanta which is more like 1.20-2 euros and handed me a plastic cup to drink it from(sighs internally). This really upset me as I always wanted to taste some proper pizza from Italy an my first ever try was barely edible and my mums pasta was tasteless (downers all around) was a waste of 30 euros, we should have just walked off an not wasted our money, but we paid. Don't fret though I went out on the hunt and my second attempt at buying pizza didn't let me down it was so SCRUMPTIOUS I was literally dreaming about pizza for days after it definitely restored my faith in Italians pizza skills. On the other hand the lasagne(which is my fave) did not fail me not once, in fact it was great the first place I tried it then the second place I tried it excelled the first place which I didn't know was possible but it made my day.
Going back to my cons sadly there seemed to be a lot of graffiti on the building and it wasn't particularly that artistic either I just can't understand why you'd want to mark up all the lovely historical building, like why defile something so stunningly beautiful I just can't wrap my head around it. Apart from that though I enjoyed my time immensely and I'm so thankful an blessed to have such a loving, caring and thoughtful mother.

I'm just going to leave you with some pictures of what we got up to an what we saw let you see some of the beauty of Rome, enjoy!

Love seeing my mama smile its infectious!

Guys if you do end up visiting Rome i would advise bringing suitable footwear such as trainers or walking shoes, maybe something that supports your ankles as the pavement can be brutal almost dropped a couple times.

So this was my last an best lasagne ironically it was our last and best meal glad we ended our holiday on a high!
